I think I need a shorter hog trap or just start trapping deer...

I started seeing a couple of hogs around my feeder so I set up a hog trap after a couple of nights all I was getting was pictures of was this buck going into the trap night after night. I sure didn't want to catch this buck still with his antlers in that trap, so I had to close the door on the trap. I haven't seen the hog's since I put the trap by the feeder.

Try taking some small rope soaked in diesel and putting it across your gate. Also a burlap sack as well will work good.

Tim beat me to it. The deer don't like to push through things, but the pigs don't mind at all.

Take the top off the trap so the deer can jump out.

We found a fawn (what was left of it) in a trap a couple years ago. I have the trap that has the swinging doors that hang down, not spring loaded. well, two of the louvers were still UP!! I have no idea why the deer couldn't/ didn't get out!

DJ, hows the ol arm holdin up?

Then your pigs jump out as well.

Not all of em. If they are big enough to jump out, they're too big to eat!! Just make the side a little taller. Sure beats diggin a dead deer out of a trap. So far, we havent had a problem w/ it.
