    Boating Offshore

What do you legally have to have to go Off-Shore. The lady at TP&W said Off-shore is considered 9 miles...

I was just wanted to know if you have to have a ship to shore radio?
What other items do you think it would be wise to have?

Also do you have to have a paddle in a boat? I heard that you do not, was just wanting to know for sure?

    Thanks...

If you got a paddle, you need a bigger boat.

Yup...unless you want to use it to subdue a mad Cobia flopping around on deck!

type 1 and 4 flotation devices, horn or whistle, fire ext, vhf would be nice. Take plenty of water to hydrate if something goes wrong. Maybe some ginger snaps for the weak stomachs and dont forget the bait !!

Take a hand held GPS and hand held VHF raido both waterproof . Flair gun with lots of extra flairs . Raft .
Take lots of beer to trade with the shrimp boats crews . Lots of shrimp for a 12 pack .
The first off shore trip we had 4 poles and 4 lures . No GPS , went 50 miles out ended up catching a 323 pound Marlin 23 miles from shore East Bank . We took 2nd place in the T.I.f.T. Fishing tournament with that fish .
                      Good luck

x2! you can get a 30 pound sack of jumbos for a 12 pack! Double that for a carton of cigs!!

Epirb, life raft, Sat phone, VHF, radar, back up GPS, handheld VHF, would be a good start.
