You might check the Annual...If you use them in public waters, you're stocking a non-native fish. Wal-Mart used to be the cheapest - 10Cents a piece. But like I said, if you're in public, fresh water, I think TPWD will nail ya...

Goldfish work great for bait, but they are expensive. If you have the time, you ought to try to catch ya a mess of perch for bait.

Heck, find ya a friends pond or community lake pond loaded with bullheads, can't do much better than using a polliwog for flatheads.

Whoa...wait...where'd you find that out? Everything I've ever read and known said that you can use goldfish for bait. TPWD even lists things like "Bass anglers have very good success using live goldfish from the west fishing pier" for Purtis Creek.

                      mail order some ..... http://www.andersonminnows.com/fish_farm_species.htm

Pet smart sells them pretty cheap. The smaller ones (1-2") were $0.13 each and the bigger(2-3") were $0.23 each

Use goldfish, or crawfish for the really good holes on your trotlines and then fill the rest of it with perch. The crawfish and goldfish will last a long time on the lines. It will help you to catch the big yellow cats. There is nothing wrong with using goldfish for bait. Goldfish will stay alive on a trotline for a long time, days. They are a carp, almost impossible to kill
