home alarm system!! which one and why?

with the rise in crime in our area, i want to upgrade my current system. so which ones do you guys have, why did you choose it? and what is the cost?

im not looking to spend thousands, but not wanting crap either

I am eventually. And yes it is. Some moron got into one of our cars last night. But didn't take anything? Weird. Im wanting to transfer with the company I work for. But we are so short handed they won't let anyone transfer from our area till further notice.

I believe an alarm is worthless. Put a yard sign and a few fake alarm stickers. Find a good surveillance system. With this you can have evidence to prosecute the crooks. They are getting pretty popular and the prices have come down. I second the dog advice. Keep valuables in a safe and record serial numbers. Good luck.
