Camper table replacement-- anyone done this ?

I need to replace the table in my older travel trailer. It is an 87 Shasta. The table is about 31 x 39 inches and about 5/8 thick.

Wondering about using 3/4 plywood or 1/2 plywood.

Anyone re done a table ? The table is bowing a bit, so it needs to be replaced. What ideas do y'all have on replacing it? I brought it home to get exact measurements.

    Thanx,

Def go with 3/4 over 1/2 inch. That is one of the reasons it is bowed now.

If you are going to laminate it. I would go with particle board. It wont bow on you in the future from moisture and weather.

If you want to just use raw wood. Get a cabinet grade ply. Cut two sizes of 3/4 the same. Glue them together to make one top. Now its a inch and half and less likely to bow on you in the future. Run some trim around the edge, stain it. Put on about 7 coats of whip on poly. Lightly sanding with 600 grit paper in between and cleaning the service before applying the next coat.

You will be good to go

I would also say to go with the 3/4". If you are going to put Formica on it and you have a Habitat for Humanity near you, try them. I got enough laminate to redo a countertop in my popup camper for $1.00 there!

        Thanx guys.

hmmm there is a place in Georgetown that resales stuff like that.

This table will also fold down to double as a bed. I need to stay close to the original thickness.
