I just bought 6.5ac in Harper. That is what I did with my 1000's
The Hill Country has the largest population of free ranging exotics in the USA. Great place to own land. I know of a large 400+ac parcel in Kerrville/Harper area that might be for sale. I think it is the BarNuthin ranch on Klien Branch Road. You might even have some dough left over to build me a guest house for tipping you off to this great land find
Cannot wait to retire there.
Its three acres!!! You and Humper can build my stands.
WElll.....Its cheap to high fence three acres and the kill odds go way up! Go to the exotics auction and buy a bunch of axis and black buck. Gotta hunt hard though before they get too hungry...
With the stipulation of 1mill. as a max, I would look in Lampasas or San Saba for it's proximity and the possiblity of getting something south of $3500/acre.
I don't know what county, but I would make sure it had water as in lake or stream, and I like some big oak trees, it would need reasonable access, and I would want to be able to get power and potable water. If it was within an hour of a decent size city (read Walmart, Tractor Supply, Krogers) that would be a plus, and lastly it would need to have enough cover/brush to feel bigger than it is and a real hunt with plenty of places for the animals to hide.
And were interested in some hill country property where would you buy. What county would be best for exotics?
professionally, I advise my clients in a situation like yours, to look at Real County, Western Kerr County(along Hwy 41,the "divide country") or eastern Edwards County.
You get the most bang for your buck land wise in these areas and where i mentioned is loaded with free ranging exotics.
