I very confident that I will be heading up the WY this fall. I put in for both buck and doe tags. It is not likely that I will get my buck tag this year, but I am positive I will get my doe tag.

If you are interested in hunting WY, you can likely pick up a leftover doe tag.

Ws hunted a 13K acre private ranch in Wyoming between Cheyenne & Laramie in '05 & '06. I think our tags were $238 + $10 or so for the conservation stamp. The hunt didn't cost us anything because my buddy's brother is the ranch manager. It's not commercially hunted, just a cattle ranch, but they have LOTS of speed goats.

Here's the secret about New Mexico most of you don't know. The draw is based on a percentile in each respective GMU. 75% of the draw winners are resident licenses and the other 25% needs to be out of state. This formula applies to all GMUs and it was set in place to ensure out of state hunters had a chance to hunt NW. So the formula to increase your draw odds, for a New Mexico resident and out of Stater, combine forces for the drawing and increase your odds. Tink applied 20 years and never got drawn (NM resident). He added me to his application, we got drawn my first year.

There are a couple of GMUs that some boys from Arizona always get drawn for every year and they get lopes every year, on the drawing system. The reason, no one from out of state applies to this GMU. Many don't even know the lopes are there.

Tink is the State of New Mexico SW Regional water management district director. He knows the ranches, the land owners and the game there. It's good to have a close friend that works for the State with access to private and public land. If they violate the water rules/regs....he's the guy they have to deal with in court. Tink has a lot of friends in New Mexico and we will hunt lopes in New Mexico every year

No Landowner tags left for this year 2008.

Start planning on the 2009 season, if you want a P&Y (100% success) or maybe a B&C class Antelope

I am putting in for lopes in NM this year as well as mule deer. Maybe I will get drawn for something.

That is my understanding. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine in NM. We are putting in for the same units, same speicies. No matter what I get drawn for, he's the guide!!

The hunt I go on is $1500 + tags. Bow only, 5 days and a limited number of hunters.

Does this really increase your odds? I would be willing to put a non resident on my application if it would help increase the odds for antelope.
