    Fertilizing wet grass???

I live SE of Houston and there is a pretty heavy mist coming down and I was going to fertilize my yard today. Is it bad to fertilize wet grass? I've read both yes and no online so I figured I'd go the the brain trust for some help.

    Thanks.

I would say no because you should water it after you fertilize anyway.

I'm thinking it will still get where it needs to go since it's not soaking wet and get a good start with the dampness, if it turns to rain after you spread it, you're golden too because you won't have to water. think of it as a granule surfactant....or you can wait and call Randy Lemon in the morning to set you straight

We're in the same boat. We bought a ton of fertilizer last night, with a view to applying it this morning. However, we need to cut the grass first - the weeds are getting ridiculous - but it was too damp to mow.

I've always hear it would "burn" the grass but that may just be an urban fable.

From what i understand. You can burn the grass if you don't water after with too much sun but you should definitely have it mowed down first for weed and feed

I always let it sit a day then water.

You are good to go. If you have any weeds be prepared to get busy because they will.

                  Grow like a weed.

The moisture is a good thing. Get after it!

Yeah, the moisture is a good thing for it. But, if you're putting out a weed n feed you don't want to water after because it washes the weed killer off the weeds.

Ideally you want the fertilizer on the soil not on the vegetation itself. That's where it gets utilized. It can burn the grass if you spread it on the wet grass and then it sits on the grass blades for a long time. Water it in good after you spread it to make sure.
