I just had to make the same choice. Found I had to realistically analyze my towing needs, and balance them against my budget and parking space limitations. Ended up with a '13 Taco DC 4x4 Sport. My towing needs are only light duty anymore (light utility trailer and small boats), I basically needed a 4x4 to take hunting/fishing and fit inside my garage. Taco fits the bill perfectly for me at this point in life. I paid $31,500 out the door for it, new, and probably left some money on the table. A buddy down the street just bought a new Ecoboost F150 4x4 ($41k new), he has greater towing needs than I do. Buy what makes sense for YOUR needs.........

Get a diesel. Used Ford F250 should be easy to find in your price range.

I paid of my 06 Taco, with 150k on it. Yes, I did some driving. But, my banker gave me a good reason to trade it in, other wise I would've drove it to the ground like my other Taco's. The truck keeps it's resale value so well, not to mention their durability's. If you want room then get a full size, if you want value's get a Taco. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Get the Toyota if you can afford it. It'll be better long term. You can run across any Chevy, Ford or Nissan (notice I left out Dodge ) that'll go a long ways with no problems but I'd say you're more likely to get a Toyota that'll last forever than any American vehicle. They are just better engineered and better built. Plus, they're assembled in San Antonio, not Canada or Mexico
