    Any UP track laborers

I am thinking about making a change and have a good chance of getting on as track laborer. What would I be looking at as far as travel and pay. Right now I bring home around 3500 a month and would like to stay close to it. Thanks for input

No idea my father is a old SP guy they merged with UP and he's been an engineer for over 35yrs man the benefits and retirement seem to be a very good perk of working for the union

I work for UP in the mechanical dept. Track gang's do travel but I believe they work within a reasonable distance of the home base. I cant give you much info on the track maintenance dept but if you have any questions about the company feel free to pm me. I have been with them for a good while and can possibly help answer any other questions you may have.

I worked for S P as a signalman years ago and left when they were bought by U P.
Mainly because I was being bumped to Kansas and had no interest in relocating with little ones at home. I worked around the labor gangs quiet often. Lots of heavy lifting and such back then. A lot more automation now. But, I still notice them as I drive through areas they are working. Plenty of dirt and track grease on them and I am sure they still earn every penny they receive. You won't find a better benefit package. Besides, start in that dept. and eventually move to a different one if you choose to do so. Signal dept isn't a bad gig.
