    Rebate Check from Allstate

Hi ya'll~~~~~got a check from Allstate today for the 6 months I've gone without an accident.
My insurance went up from $117.00 to $134.00 when I renewed it. That's only liability for my car and my pickup.
Wanna know how much the check was???????????????????????????
    $34.00

I would be looking for someone else to give my hard earned money to. They will give you the shaft if you let em.

I have Allstate right now and I am about to go to Geico I think. I quoted them apples to apples to what I have with Allstate and it was less than half of what I am paying. When I told Allstate this, they magically found more discounts for me. I would check it out.

Allstate just went through a rate increase FYI...You can probably Google an article but if my memory after a couple of drinks serves me correctly Allstate Mutual Insurance Company just had a 10-12% increase across the board on their auto insurance.

They went up from $117 to $134 - then gave you a $34 rebate? Sounds like it went down to me. How are they giving her the shaft if they effectively lowered her premium?

I've been looking for my check in the mail.... My motorcycle insurance cost more than my truck! and I have not had a claim on either

I haven't had a claim (comp) since 2003 and that was some hail damage.

So if my math is correct are you saying your monthly premium went up $17 a month then? And if they sent you a rebate check of "only" $34 then you are still worse for the wear for your six month premium. Now if you had State Minimum liability on the vehicles you might have had the rate increase for the State Minimum Liabiliuty limit going from $20K/$40K/$15K to the new limit of $25K/$50K/$25K which went into effect April 1st, 2008 in Texas.

Six months at 134 would add up to more than rebate.

I guess what Trailboss might have been getting at is a "rebate" check is a refund of premium from the previous policy year so technically Allstate did reduce her premium from her prior insurance by giving some of it back. Now they did increase her premium for the current policy period though.

We have all our insurance through Farm Bureau.
Good rates and you get an automatic 500 bucks off (on top of what everyou haggled for) on any new Dodge product.

My brother and his wife had insurance with them for about 10 yrs with out any claims then the first lil claim they had the company dropped them. I'll never use them. I was with state farm years ago and I'm with them now and it seems they're always dropping my rate. I think I'm paying like $54 a month for full coverage.

Allstate gave me the shaft. My insurance went up 50 bucks a month due to credit, which I think is wrong. My credit score is good, what the H. Also someone tell me when my credit stated to affect my driving ability.

To quote Larry the Cable Guy. " Sometimes you gotta wreck the truck, and collect the insurance money to make the truck payment"

This is a hard pill to swallow for lots of folks, but numerous studies have been done that indicate that credit scores and claims risk are related. Even the folks that do the studies aren't sure why this relationship exists but it's been proven that it does.

Maybe not on an individual basis, but on the public as a whole - folks with poor credit tend to have more claims. The poorer the credit, the higher the risk. This is why most companies now incorporate some sort of risk score (which includes a credit score) in their underwriting guidelines.

The first studies were done by insurance companies, then by consumer groups, and then it was even confirmed a few years back by an independent study by a group from the University of Texas.

That's why you pretty much have to give your SS# to even get a quote these days.

This is true but the problem is some of the people that have bad credit is because of identify theft. My GF had hers stolen and now has to pay high interest rates on loans and credit cards that she has to get to build her credit back and high insurance. She has never had a claim in 20 years with the same company and they wouldn't give her any kind of a break, so she checked with Gieko and they cut her bill in third.
