    Newbie boat question

Bought my first real boat this weekend (real as in a huge upgrade from my John boats in the past), and I don't know what all these holes in the bottom of the hull are for! It's a 2006 bass tracker crappie team 175.

I understand one is for the drain plug, and I'm assuming the others are for the live wells and bilge pump, but which are which and do I need to plug any of them?

And a side note...I'm not sure if my bilge pump is working. I flip it on, and I don't hear anything. Is it silent?

It's a Craigslist boat, and I'm real happy with it...beginner boat but its my boat.

Thanks for any help...a bit embarrassed, but I'm a newbie.

Those look like intakes for your live wells.

All of them? Are they okay to leave unplugged? In other words, will I sink?

Your live wells will plug from in the the boat.

X2 on the livewells. They will not sink your boat. There should be valves or plugs for them but still won't sink it.

Lol sounds like me when I bought my first boat. The only one I knew for sure was the drain plug.

Check for a fuse or circuit breaker for your bilge pump. If that dont work then look under the rear deck if you have access and locate the bilge pump and look for any connections or splices that may be corroded. Last option would be to cut the two wires coming from the bilge motor and wire them directly to a 12 volt battery and see if it works or is locked up. They are cheap to replace and you can pick a new one up at academy for 35.00.

Two large ones on the outside are livewell intakes. They should have some type of screen to keep weeds out of your pump. One is a pump out more than likely for bilge and the other just guessing is a pump out for livewells. Follow the tubing on the inside should be able to tell which is going to livewells and bilge.

Check the hoses going to the livewells.Make sure they are all connected and clamps on hoses are tight.Seen a few hoses come off in my days on the water and it will fill the boat up fast with water. You won't sink but your gonna think you are.If that happens pull the main drain plug and drive around till all the water gets out.Just a little something else to check every once in awhile...Have fun.
