    Wood Lathe Questions

I am wanting to try and make my own hunting calls and work on other small projects so I have decided to purcase a mini lathe. I decided on this one after reading the feedback and since it is in my price range. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001DT1MR2
My question is what other accesories/tools will I need to get started? I plan on also buying a book about working with a lathe since I have no experience with one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm also in the same boat as you. I want a lathe but I can't decide on which one. Subscribed.

I run a Jet and like it a lot. I only started turning this past October, so I'm still learning.

Guys I make pens and calls as well. I'm deep into it and have just about every gadget needed. Try lurking in websites like THO game calls and pen turners forums. Very informative and a world of ideas and reviews on items. Oh yeah don't overlook Rikon lathes. They are good lathes and customer service has been good to me. Actually talk to real people, even the tech guys if something happens or if you are unsure if it is operating correctly.

There's so much stuff you can get, and most of it you don't really need.
Invest the extra money and get a variable speed lathe (not a multi speed). As you get deeper into it, you'll appreciate the versatility.

              I use a Laguna.

Don't have much time but here goes.... I build calls and this is just a very small list.

                Lathes....I have 2
                Knives....I about about 10. Don't buy cheap
                Chucks......I use 4
                Chop saw
Drill press...with 4-5 bits in every size made. Some I didn't even know they make.
                Band saw
                Table saw
                Don't forget the wood. LOL

That's just a fast run down of whats in the room I turn in.

I have another room to finish and tune calls.
