I have a 2006 f250 6.0 and the battery light started coming on/off intermittently.. book said battery not charging properly.. Well I took it to auto store and it tested fine while on the truck.. Had the same issue for couple days and took it off and had the whole test done, it was fine.. After not believing it I took it to the repair shop and just said rebuild it.. They called back and said we will rebuild it but we have it apart now and it's perfectly fine... So I said ok a don't rebuild it ill look into other things causing it.. Well my good friend has the same truck torn apart to run stainless hoses and I borrowed his alternator and no light comes on. Went and bought a new alternator and its been fine.. Not that it's a big story but my lesson is just cause it tests fine doesn't mean it is.. Hopefully this will help someone one day cause I've been working to figure this one for a while..

I had a similar problem with my 08 6.7. Went out one day to start it and nothing dead as heck. Jumped it with a jump box ran to Auto parts store and had them test batteries and alt everything tested fine. Truck started for the rest of the day. Next morning same thing tested the volts and right where they should be. I talked to a buddy that said take batteries out of the truck and have them checked. Sometimes they won't show bad but they are. After taking the batteries out I noticed cracks by the post. I bought to optima batteries and haven't had a problem since.
