Yes. I did a 6" lift with 33" tires on 17" rims. My mileage went from 20mpg to 15mpg. I could get some of it back if I changed out my gears.

Your options depend on what you want to do with it.

I have a 2011 DC 4x4 TRD offroad edition with 3" OME lift and 285/65/18 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

If I were to do it again I would have bought a DC 4x4 SR5 and paid the extra to install ARB front bumper, OME lift, and ARB air lockers front and rear. Vandergriff Toyota will do it if that is the route you want to go. Yes it is more expensive but there is no hassle IF you have warranty issues. Another nice thing would be the supercharger.

I would suggest you checkout TW. http://www.tacomaworld.com/

I think 300Rem7 hit the nail on the head with his suggestion to buy a base SR-5 4x4 if you plan on modifying it. No need to spend the package money on a TRD Off-Road, Texas Edition, Limited, or Sport if you plan on modifying it. You'll just end up removing the factory components anyway. You can get anything else you want from the aftermarket. Bear in mind that the rumor is that the Tacoma will get the 4-Runner V6 in 2016, along with a better transmission (6-spd?). Be advised your Taco will NOT get you significantly better gas mileage than a 1/2 ton, only marginally better. I like mine because I have no significant towing needs, and it fits nicely in the garage.

Czech - with my 3" lift and 285/75/16 tires I get about 17.5 on the highway. I have an 02 4x4 with the V-6.

That's good! With my 285/70/17s I only get about 15/16mpg.

They aren't meant for good gas mileage but I didn't buy it for that anyways. I was surprised that I still got that good a gas mileage after the lift and tires. I only lost about 1.5mpg. I thought it'd be more like 4+mpg.
