Trailer - Pipe or Angle Iron?

I'm in the market for a 16' utility trailer, what's the benefit of pipe top vs. angle iron?

Trailer is more rigid with pipe. I prefer square tubing.

pipe top is often considered more heavy duty. sometimes you'll find a different lug configuration with a pipe top rather than an angle top. for instance, most angle tops come with a tandem axle 5 lug wheels, while a pipe top could come with the same, some might come with an 8 lug assembly and might even have a brake axle.

utility, medium or heavy duty rating...angle iron is medium duty at best

Also a sloped rear adds some strength

Something to consider, it is easier to strap loads to an angle trailer.

Yes, but for a little more you can have a rub rail welded on the outside of your stake pockets and then you can strap anywhere.

This is what I got Charles at Maxey yo do for me. I wanted the pipe rail, but needed plenty of places to strap. Considering the cost of the trailer, the add on was a no brainer. And he had the best price anywhere.

I'd say pipe too. On weight and length I think you need to ask yourself what you will be using it for most of the time.

The pipe top adds a lot of rigidity to the trailer, and not to mention, looks a heck of a lot better. As far as the strapping goes, eye bolts can be located anywhere you want them.

Pipe quality is better not to mention a little easier on the shin bones. I hate angle trailers for that reason. Maybe I'm just clumsy.
