Most of our dirt roads were as good as blacktop, you could run 60 mph on them no problem unless the County road grader tried to grade them too fast then they would be like a washboard. This was in the far northwest corner of the Panhandle. I haven't been back in a loooong time.

I grew up on a dirt road. We didn't get stuck on them, but I remember my brother and I using the tractor to pull a bunch of people out of the mud after Hurricane Beulah in '67. Brooks & Dunn's "Red Dirt Road" has always reminded me of those awesome days.

All our roads were white shell roads. Those were some good go carting roads.

I have many favorites. One of the tops would be Forest RD 1950 between Castilla and Raton NM.

We did a lot of dirt road riding back in my younger days. Some of my fondest memories is when a good song would come on the radio, we just stop in the middle of the road, kick the doors open, pile out and start dancing, I danced to many a song in the headlights of my old pickup on a dirt road.

My favorite is turning off the black top onto fields lane in coke county. We've been driving that road since 85. Heck even my dog rocky which is 13 now starts getting pumped up when we turn off. Some how he knows what's going on, he loves the ranch!
