cold - what is wrong with me?

I used to be tough... at least I think. Never wore sleeves at cold West Texas football or baseball games. Sat long hours in deer blinds with no complaints. Played golf down to the low 40s routinely in 30mph winds with out even a thought.

These days however, I can't stand being cold and when I do get cold, I can't warm up. ??? Kid had a softball game tonight and my feet are still ice blocks and hour after getting home. Last week we were out there late one night and I shivered all night long after coming home even wearing thermals and wool socks. Maybe I'm just growing wimpier as I get older but I'm really thinking it's time to go further south

I realize I am leaving this thread wide open for wise crack comments

Might want to check your testosterone levels. According to the guys on the "T" thread, every ailment suffered by a middle aged American man can be traced back to low-T!

Nope not it. I still wake up to a morning salute like I was 18 years old Had a physical recently and given a clean bill of health on everything. T was in the "normal" range.

It could be from a number of things...

Poor circulation (although your morning salute might rule that out )
        Low thyroid
Adrenal fatigue (under a lot of stress?)
Lack of adequate sleep (do you often wake up in the middle of the night tired but unable to go back to sleep?)

If I were in your shoes, I'd first go to an endocrinologist and get a complete blood and hormone lab done. If all tests come back normal, which they seem to do about half the time, I'd find a hormone replacement doc in your area. You can start with one of these, but they typically don't take insurance. So you have to pay out of pocket.

Just noticed you are in Cypress. There are plenty of the latter doctors in Houston.

I can attest to the low thyroid thing. I thought I was dying until the docs got my dosage and meds figured out.. Now I'm back to normal. Was having all kinds of problems that were linked to that.

Wearing tee shirts when it's cold out doesn't make you tough. Just makes you silly.

I go thru times where I feel the cold more than others as well, not sure why. I just dress to be comfortable.

like it or not it may simply be an age thing,, we do tend to break down as we get older,, good news most of our parts still are attached even if they creak and pop now and then.... i still handle cold better than heat,, just not as much cold as i did 30 years ago...

Had a heat stroke lately? Sometimes when that happens your thermostat goes haywire...according to my Dad who had one last year and now is always cold.

It's called getting older. I used to be the same way but get colder much easier lately.
