    Geocashing

Anyone do this? Seems a little corny but thinking it could be fun to do with the 8 yr old. Going out to Washington on the Brazos tomorrow for Independence Day celebration. There are have a class on this. Think I will check it out.

We have done it numerous times, but it's been about a year since we've been. Search Geocaching here on TBH and you fill find several threads about it.

Wiki, our kids enjoyed it, it's about the best way to learn to use a GPS too.

You don't need a class. All you need to to read the intro on the website, input the coord in your GPS and go out for a treasure Hunt (that's what my kids called it when they were 5)

I enjoy it and my screen name on the site is Les Predateurs

There are millions of geocaches worldwide, just waiting for you to find them. There are probably even some within walking distance of where you are right now. Visit Geocaching.com to see just how many geocaches are nearby and to learn how to start finding them.

Not corny. Lots of fun. Great outdoors family activity. If you use an iPhone they have an app for anytime anywhere use. It's THE BEST way I've found to actually learn to navigate with my Garmin as well.

Whats Corny about finding treasure chests

Geo CaChing is a blast. Teaches children many things, morals and life lessons if your doing it correctly.

The adults can have fun with it to if your comfortable in your own skin and not worried about what others think

IF you have a smart phone, Download the app for either android or iphone. It will cost you $10 but well worth it and you wont need a gps unit. Your phone will be it. With the app you can access every cach around you as well as the file for each cach with pictures and information about it.

Once you get the app. You will be surprised how many are around you ALL the time

I haven't been Geocaching in a couple of years but daughter use to love to go. Its another great way to get outdoors. Now with their app and a decent smartphone you don't even need a GPS unit. I always thought it was a fun way to get outdoors when your not hunting or fishing and great for the entire family.
