What do you guys use for emergency air in the field like for a slow leak in a tire or a plugged tire: Those DC air compressors, carry air tanks prefilled, fix-a-flat, bicycle pump? What's best?

Vehicle or ATV?
I carry a DC air compressor in my Truck. I'll use it at camp for the truck, trailer or ATV.
ATV...green slime in the tires will usually fix the small leaks in the tires. If I puncture a ATV tire and it goes flat I'll plug it and use a bicycle inflator that uses a CO2 cylinder to air it up. I got it from a bike shop and works well to air up ATV tire when you don't have DC pump handy.

I have a mini bicycle hand air pump and a mini can of fix-a-flat on my 4 wheeler. Then in my truck I carry a small 12volt air compressor with a pluging kit. I have also added a 12v cig. plug port at the back end of the truck so the wires and pump could reach a trailer tire. I have had holes in trailer tires that have taken three plugs but they held good enough to get to where I could replace the tire.
I also have slime in my ATV tires. And heaven help you if your bead seal breaks away from the rim in the woods...no hand held air pump or CO2 cartridge will reseat it, trust me I have tried, even with a strap around the center of the tire to push the bead out against the wheel. You just don't get a good hard push of air.Last edited by Shadow; 12-08-2006, 02:01 PM.

This is what we use when 4 wheeling. We air down our tires to get traction and then use this to air it back up.
