So what's the point on the end for?

It's a branding iron and you can change out the letters and numbers on it. They slide on over the edges. The back end is not a screw driver but a pry bar to get the numbers and letters out of the case because as they cool tey will shrink and get tight.

Now tell me what is it in your avatar.

That would be a motorcycle seat with a chrome deer emblem on the back sitting on a blue motorcycle.

I was thinking maybe something fit over the end but couldn't quite come up with a use for it.

I googled branding irons with interchangeable letters and it might be one however I could not confirm it..and the metal does not have signs of high temp exposure...and to answer your question about my avatar it is a stainless steel buck I designed and had cut with a laser and then mounted on my scooter..I have blinged my scooter now I will now bling my STI AR15 with speakers, lasers and spotlights and I also discovered a use for the unknown tool ...AR15 kickstand...If my scooter avatar offends anybody I will change it to the trail cam picture of the buck I tried to kill....or I could photoshop a big buck like some individuals I know. once again whoever correctly identifies the tool with pics and data I will mail it to them..

I think Draco nailed it. Here is a link to the best image I could find.

You don't need to mail it to me. I don't think I have a use for it either.

Now that you told me what your avatar is I can see it as plain as day. Before, I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

I think you and cheez are correct and it is an antique version of a letter brand. You are the new owner of it, if you want it I can deliver it or mail it, and thanks to all the contestants in this tool identification thread for your participation. this thread is now closed and any further inquiries should be made to the new owner so I can move on with my life..
