    Crappie time

If anyone has a good crappie spot on Somerville, I have the boat to get us there. Not looking to steal your spot, just catch a mess of crappie and have a good time.

On a side note, the wife loves redfish, so if you know and are willing to teach about the coastal area the fun awaits.

The boat is a 24 foot pure bay blue wave. Not a skinny water boat, but comfy and dry.

OK I understand, 140 views and no takers...... geeze, not asking you to marry me, just a little fishing. LOL. But really I understand, your spot, you did all the work, only you and your buds fish it. Anyway, good fishing to you. I will learn the hard way.

I have a pretty good redfish spot.

However I too am looking for crappie on Somerville. I can catch Bass and whites, and a few hybrids. But crappie are a tough one. Most anchor up near deer island and fish sunken brush piles.

You don't need a boat to get on the crappie at somerville, just go to big creek marina, i have caught hybrids, gaspers, flatheads, blues, channels, right next to the marina....from the dock.....

Ok, granger is not to far to go I guess. Any and all help is great. If you are serious we need to get together and wet a line. If April is good I can wait. Just let me know here or by pm and we can make it happen.

You would be surprised on how skinny that pure bay will go! All around great boat.

Next time I go fishing back home in Palacios I will send you a message. You can ride down with me. My dad has a 21ft transport XLR8. Just bring a GPS and I will show you a few spots.

I have never fished on Sommerville but they should be patterning like crappie on most lakes. At Sam Rayburn they will be moving up and staging on the points at the mouths of the coves. Use your depth finder and look for brushpiles in 6-12 feet of water. Then they should be moving back into the creeks and move up for the spawn and then its just easing down the brush line in 1-2 feet of water. Then they will head back out to the points again by april. After May look for brushpiles in 20 plus feet of water along deep creeks and the river channel. On Rayburn sometimes they will be tight to the brush and sometimes they may be suspended well above the brush or on the down current side. A slip cork rig with a minnow works well for finding them then you can jig them with 1/16 once jig.

I'm not down that way but Yegua creek is always good this time of year. fish a white and chart jig under a cigar boober. Or minnows.

If the lake is down you might have trouble gettting up that creek tho. Check the levels and go carefully.

Humtnfishtex, I know it will run skinny, maybe 12 to 14 inches with a soft bottom. However you had better not stop cuz that is where you will sit
