$200 at BPS - Cam Question

Ok, gang. I am going to head to BPS this afternoon to pick up a new trail cam. I have $200 to spend (thanks to B-day). What do you guys suggest?

I know that some of that money will have to be used on a Solar charger and a 128MB card. So what is the best bang for your buck out of what BPS has to offer?

I know some on here have had problems with them but we never have, and that's the Moultrie cams both 100 and 200!! Right now the 100's are on sale for $79 (so you can buy two!!lol), but what I like about the 200's is they stamp the temp and moon phase as well as date and time!! The pic quality is good also!! One thing is that during daytime the pics will sometimes washout and in hot temps it will trigger slower, but I have mine set for 1 minute intervals so I get alot of good pics that I was missing with the 5 min setting!! Get the moutrie rechargable batteries and you'll be good to go there!! You really IMHO don't need a card over 256 or 512mb but get what you want, I can put over 1000 pics on my 256 which is way more than it'll take before I check it!! Hope this helps!!

I currently have an older Moultrie 100 out on the lease with a 128MB card. I never use up the card space because I check it almost weekly. Good advice furhunter. Thanks.

      Any others?

Moultrie 200. But, you may want to look at the Stealth WD2-IR. They have it for $179 and battery life is phenomenal. Mine has been out since early August and is still running on the original "C" batteries and shows a full charge. It also uses the same SD card as the Moultrie. The pics ain't as pretty because they are always black & white but it will get the job done. Also, those east Texas deer seem to be more sensitive to a flash and this one has an infrared flash.

Is this price good in the store only? I can't even find this camera on their website.

Well, I went for 2 Moultrie 2.1 (Moultrie 100). I almost went with the 200 for the solar panel nubs then realized I wasn't paying $100 more for a camera when I could just drill a hole through the plastic and get the same thing.

              2 Moultrie 100's
              2 6volt rechargable batteries
2 Solar panels (attached then shut the case)
              $217

Went to Wal-mart and picked up 4 256MB SDcards for $18 a piece.

Then ran out to the lease and set them both up. Noticed the slight differences from my current Moultrie 200 (mainly in set up).

Thanks for the advice. But I would rather get decent pics from two places on the lease, than great pics from just one place. In my opinion, every member on the lease should be required to have two cams out so we can inventory the herd.

                    230-ir with pic

I have 2 gamespy cameras, one of the older 1.3 and a newer 200. The pictures on the 200 are great. I went and bought one of the new 230-ir cameras from basspro for $179 because I wanted to try one of them out too. I will admit the pictures aren't that great but I can live with them. After buying it and $6 worth of C batteries I started thinking. I didn't want to have to spend $6 everytime I had to change batteries so I ordered some C size rechargeable batteries to put in it. Then I started getting paranoid thinking the rechargeables would not supply enough vlolts to run the camera because they are 1.2 not 1.5. While waiting for the batteries to arrive I tried an experiment. I got 6 aa rechargeable batteries and some adapters that made them the size of C batteries and put the 6 aa batteries in the camera with the adapters. The snowstorm had just hit and the temps were real cold. I think I only left it out for two days over a feeder. I came back expecting to find the batteries dead but it had taken close to 500 pictures and the batteries still said full. The pictures were all of birds and squirrels, I guess they were flocking around my feeder because that was the only place they could find food at the time. Needless to say I am not worried about battery life anymore......

Here is a picture of a little doe that it took at night.
