I came across a great article in RMEF's Elk magazine this evening, written by Chris Madson in the Hunting is Conservation section. I'm one of those weird guys that is fascinated with the west and won't pass up a good quote. I am also fortunate to make a living in the hunting and wildlife management business. I've seen every side of it, good and bad. For me, this pretty much sums up why I bow hunt. I'm sure many of you feel the same as we take bow in hand, willingly forfeiting the upper hand to the game we pursue.
"As the weapon became more and more effective, the man imposed more and more limitations on himself as the animals rival, in order to leave it free to practice it's Wiley defenses, in order to avoid making the prey and the hunter excessively unequal, as if passing beyond certain limit in that relationship might annihilate the essential character of the hunt, transforming it into pure killing."

Practice often, hunt smart.
