No but you ever see the show MeatEater. He goes to Montana and makes it look easy. Cool show

I absolutely love to turkey hunt. I've never done it outside of Texas though and have always wanted to work on a North American Slam. What did you have in mind?

Got one in La Junta Colorado a few years ago. It was a pretty good area. You can try Peason Ridge WMA in Louisiana too. Im not sure what the rules are in La but I know that when I was working at Peason there were turkeys running all over the place. I only saw a few hunters too.

Turkey hunting didn't quite click for me I guess. Not one of my favorites.

My wife wanted to attempt the turkey Grand Slam, she still does..its not cheap even on a do it yourself level.

You can get two from Texas

            Rio Grande
            Eastern

Colorado Merriam's and then a Florida Osceola which is costly!!

Just looking for ideas and places to check into other than west Texas which we do every year anyway.

Look into a DIY hunt at Wright Patman Wma in East Tx for a Eastern..if you can hunt them there..Only problem is or was you could only use a shotgun to hunt east tx birds in those counties, I dont know if it has changed.

Go to Kansas. Cheap license, tags, and Eastern and Rios both. Not hunted much by the locals either and tons of birds.

My brother and tried out Kirksville, Missouri for our first out of state try based on a hot tip and neither scored - not a whole lot of state land where we stayed but was able to get permission from a land owner.

Then we tried Ritchie county in West Virginia and we both scored. I can give more specific details if interested.

Kansas, Rios and Eastern both cheap license, most land owners will let ya hunt at no cost cause they clean house on crops. Hunt fort Riley area, TONS OF BIRDS.

After I tagged along elk hunting in unit 34 with some buddies, we decided to go back and try turkeys sometime soon. They were all over the place and merriams to boot!
