    Multiple Sclerosis

Some of you know I've been having problems for a few years now and that, last year, I went to the MS Clinic in Dallas.
I had a neuro appointment yesterday evening and the news was, "Progressive-Relapsing MS." Apparently it's the most rare. Other than that, I really don't know what to expect other than how I feel now and how I've been feeling. I've been falling fairly often so a scooter or something may be in order down the road. Does any GS'rs have any personal experience with this type of MS or know someone with this type that may be able to help me learn what I'm up against?

    Thanks,

    Blake

you're young brother as prayers sent up

keep going to dr. appts., take your prescribed meds, and remain optimistic

research as much as you can and go to support groups.

Phil 4:13 .. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I do know a little bit about it. My mother inlaw has the same kind. She'll be fine for weeks, even months, then all of a sudden have a really bad few weeks.

I think alot of it is out of your control. What I would recommend is doing some research on diet and exercise. I know fish oil is supposed to be incredible for MS.

I've also heard of a drug called alemtuzumab (I think that's how it is spelled) that is supposed to reverse the effects of the brain damage cause by MS an help grow new tissue. May want to give it a google too.

my mother had it for almost 30 years , the first 20 or so wasn't to bad on her . The last 10 were pure evil on her. She wouldn't not try any trial medicine. The last 3 years was horrible she was bed ridden ,

you may consider testing a gluten free or "paleo" diet. It has been shown to help improve symptoms in a variety of autoimmune conditions. I know it helped me. I don't have any first hand experience with MS, but I have read of a lot of people improving after removing gluten from the diet.

Cut out anything that has aspartame in it (Diet drinks, all artificial sweeteners). This is know to exacerbate MS and even cause symptoms very, very similar to MS.

Brother there are several of us on here that have MS. I was diagnosed in 1998. I have relapsing remitting. I was on Betaseron from 2002 until just recently and I switched doctors and now I am going through the Dallas VA and the MS clinic there with some really high speed Neurologist and I have had server migraine headaches and my new doctor switched me to Rebif and I have had on server migraine in 3 months. I was starting to lose my balance more frequently and now I am becoming a little more stable. My problems are mainly in my eyes and upper body. I have been apart of the National MS society since 2007 and I have become a big advocate for our rights. There is a group of us that are meeting next week in Austin to bring a few things to our congressmen. If you ever need a friend that understand what you are going through call me. I joined a support group 5 years ago and a lot of people say support groups don't work. We meet once a month for 2 hours. but it is a chance for us to be around a group that are going through some of the same things we are. When you say do you know how it is when you pick up you cold drink and it falls out of your hand because your hand want close on something cold. then the next thing you drop a cup of coffee because you think your problem is cold but now it is hot. Those of us with MS can relate. but other people have never had that happen to them.
As I said I am here if you need a friend

My d-i-l has MS but it has largely been in remission/inactive since she got pregnant about 9 years ago. Here's hoping yours goes inactive as well.

Things are going ok. One day at a time. I have always felt drunk throughout the day but lately i've been battling severe vertigo even when driving. Part of my job is oilfield sales and I drive around 350 miles every tuesday. This past Tuesday made me realize that I should probably stop driving. My boss is also my dad and i dont want to be a burden to anyone. I went it to turn in my resignation last week and he looked me square in the eyes and said "that's not gonna happen!" Talk about a relief. My goals in life have changed fast. Now I'm all about the little victories. This was one of them.
