I was in the same position last night with my first grader :30 minutes before bed time. "Daddy, I forgot to tell you we need to make a box for my valentines". We keep an emergency stash of art supplies for just such an occassion.

LOL my daughter (3rd grade) has been working on hers for the last 2 days...really elaborate and I told her and my wife the same thing! We either had a sack or shoe box with a hole in the top. My daughter's box (if you can call it a box) has a fancy latch and puppy dog them all over it.

That's to funny! My second grader and my wife actually made a puppy dog with the mouth that folds down as the opening. She was so excited to show me and I was impressed then my wife yells out that they need to finish it!!!! Wow.... It looked like the op's when they finished.
