Question about collecting rain water???

    You should transition from gutter to PVC some where between the roof and the house. You need a large screen there to collect large debris just before the roof washer drop tube. You can see the drop yube with the clean out in the first picture.

      I don't go up to the deer lease for about 8 months. This may not be a good setup for me.

        Most soaps won't kill the bacteria. Bleach is your friend! Remember it needs about an hour of contact time to be effective. The water will not go "bad". Dose your tank on arrival, canister firsts of 5 micron for sediment and 1 micron following that will make it completely safe to drink when combined with bleach treatment. A carbon filter will help with odor/taste if you need it.
