I use a treager grill and wouldn't take for it. It is very versatile

How long from ignition to cooking? I know its not as fast as propane but suppose to be fairly quick.

pass on both, get a primo XL Oval instead

I looked into Treagers last year, searching the net they seem to be having some problems w/electronics the last couple of years. There are other pellet smokers out there w/better reviews than the treagers.

I have a traeger. It's very easy to use and super convenient. Only takes 5 minutes on smoke setting to get fire going, then set to temp you need and start cooking. It's so efficient that you don't get a lot of "smoke" flavor into your meat, but love to be able to go to bed and wake up to a brisket cooking at 225 with no problems. Grillig steaks is easy but tricky, don't get the char on the meat so you really have to re-learn how to cook by feel and not so much by color. But all in all, I like the grill. Mainly for convenience. I still use my wood burner and weber charcoal when friends are over though. My buddy bought the weber green mountain smoker and sold his traeger. It's very economical and easy to use also.

Send Atombomb a PM, he's the Traeger poster child.

Do not go with Louisiana Grill brand smokers. FIL has one and took 6 plus months to get a new igniter.

Also, Try the B&B brand pellets.

Those seem neat and give the taste. I've been soaking oak blocks to smoke on a gas grill and those do great for flavor.

I have cooked on about everything.

Pellet smokers are great when you have the pellets. If you run out or run low they are horrible plus the pellets are a big expense. I have a large electric smoker they you tray wood in over the heating coils and like it for small cooking applications (2 brisket max)

Have a BGE and love it for steaks and fast grilling and do sometimes do ribs but prefer electric because of ease.

Neither of the above have a large capacity. If you want ot cook for large groups there is only one way. Large trailer smoker or large electric rotating.
