I'm on book 11 of 16 by Terry C. Johnston of the Plainsman series.. Historical novelist who integrates a fictional character, Seamus Donegan into the Indian Wars beginning with Sioux Dawn: The Fetterman Massacre, 1866.

I've learned more about how the Native Americans were treated after the Civil War than I ever learned in school.

Haven't read this LL book and was surprised to find it's set in the 1980's. Not LL's general genre of work. Thanks Ruby!!!
