    Dog's health... Vets help request...

    What do you think?
It all started 3 weeks ago when I noticed hard chunks of hair on my dog's shoulder; then I noticed he was continuosly bleeding.. the blood would dry and that's what was causing the hard chunks of hair. A deeper exploration found hard tissue, like dead tissue below his hide around 3" diameter.

Vet recomended iode cleaning, and gave some antibiotics.
Two weeks later it looks just the same, theres some scar tissue where the bleeding used to be but still lots of scar tissue underneath his hide and I get the feeling he's not feeling well.. besides I feel so alone when he's not with me while I'm jogging, hiking, fishing or retriving a hunt... what 'ya think?

Can you see his face saying "please help me!"?

He's my only companion, I'd do whatever it takes for him... but any advise is well appreciated.

need to keep it clean an keep him from scratching it or licking it if he can reach it. chances are it was either a wound he got or some type of bug, then he scratched at it and caused infection.

If you think he still doesn't feel good take him back to the vet or to another one.

Thank's y'all for your comments, I sure will take him to the vet this week, but wanted to have a second opinion first.

Tink, that'd be an honor sir, why don't we arange something when Coach comes back from the Baharian? it'll be the last week of june.

When are you comming? Had word from my deer lesee that he saw 6 nice hogs on one of my feeders last night, he wants me to get them out of the equation deer + feeder = happy hunters.

Ask Coach, he saw "La Bestia" the first time he was down here.

My german sheperd used to get that every summer. Its a condition dogs get when they overly wet their coats/skin and then get into the sun. It sucked when I used to show him . In other words, hair slippage, like on a deer hide. Hes figured out not to do it anymore, its really uncomfortable for them. Haven't seen it anymore, just keep it free of infection and he'll be alright. Sorry to hear about it though..it was rough on me seeing my ugly brother go through it.

Its hard to tell whats going on from the pics alone, but I will take a shot at it. Looks like an infection gone bad. If it got better w/ abs then likely it just needs a longer duration and a little more time. I see these time of infections frequently from either a undiscovered wound or hot spots that get severly infected. Other things that can look like that are sebaccious cysts( clogged hair follicle oil gland) and or tumors growths( not trying to scare you). I would recommend a recheck w/ your vet. We ussally treat the most common cause first and if it does not respond move on to further diagnostics and evalutaion to find the diagnosis. We won't know if the treatment does not work unless you bring them back. Don't be to quick to switch vets.

Brannon, I saw some of your posts on other threads and was praying you would see mine (don't take me wrong guys... I do appreciate a lot ya'lls inputs). When I felt the area the first time I first thought of a tumor and was really scared about that... but then found the bleeding wound causing lots of scar tissue around. My vet did just what you mention, he's going through the infection combating first then we'll see. I won't switch vet in the near future, my current vet knows my dogs tail to nose and had being very responsible and good to my pets... my intention for this post was not to discredit him, but to have yall's opinion before this Wednesday's checkup... I'll continue with the cleaning like you all suggested and will let you know what comes out of it... thanks a lot brotherhood!

That was my thought. I just opened this thread. I have a pet that got spider bit once. Treated with antibiotic cream and pills. Cleared right up.
