I know a young man that went to one in Colorado. He got offers from all over to guide. He's been to Idaho and here in Texas. I think he is going to Alaska this spring.
I guide out in the Gila. I love it. Can't wait till the end of August to get here!
      Good luck!

If I was your age I'd be there.

I think you should go for it.

I'll call you If I draw a tag around Silver City.

          Hey Bomb,

Me and a few others are gonna be put around Mayhill, the latter part of April, chasing turkeys. You gonna be after them anywhere?

We will be in another area of the Lincoln National Forest for turkeys.

Can you work part time for a guide during the upcoming hunting seasons? That might be a good way to get started.

I went to Big Sky Guide and Outfitting school in Wilsall Mt. in 89. Just make sure they offer some type of job placement after you get done. I've worked for several outfitters in Mt, Co, and Canada. If you like hunting I would'nt do it. I had the misconception when I started that I'd get to hunt a lot. Not much hunting but you do get to meet a lot of new people and make some really good friends. I get a lot of invites to go hunting now all around the country from people I've guided in the past. Now that I'm older I plan on taking a lot of people up on there offers . Good luck on your new adventure.

Elite outfitters offers a elk guide school (I think). They are out of NM. San Migaul Hunting Ranches offers a guide school here in Texas, Uvalde area.

For some of the out-of-state guiding/hunting it might be worth your time to go. For whitetail guiding in Texas it will be a complete waste of time. Even the school in Texas (I won't mention any names...but it may have been mentioned in an earlier post ) is considered a joke in most circles. I'm not trying to bust your bubble or anything just stating my opinion. But like I said, if you don't know much about tending to horses and all of that, the out-of-state thing might be cool.
