NEW CAMERA but have a problem

i HAD a video camera that recorded to dvc tape.

the remote to it was not working so i took back to best buy. best buy had the camera for over a month and when i got it back it was not fixed.

the manager exchanged my old camera for a new sony hdd 30 gb memory and 40x optical zoom(it is nice).

i came out well ahead i cant complain.

the problem is i have several hunts recorded on dvc tapes and have no way to view them.

does anybody now how i can get these tapes transferred to some other storage device.

also i have a battery to my old camera and 3 or4 dvc tapes if anybody can use them.

i cant wait to use my new video camera. i am also looking at a nikon d40 soon with two lenses for $629.

    any suggestion would be appreciated

Probably your easiest way to transfer the films is to borrow a camera from a friend and download the hunts to your hard-drive then just burn them to a dvd.

I have the Nikon d40 with the 18-55 lens and the 55-200 lens. I love it. It is honestly hard to take a bad pic with it. I especially love the aperture priority setting. You can do some neat things with that setting of the same subject.

$629 is a great price. I have about $700 in this same setup.

No a laptop wont work, because I cant hook it up to my Mac.

There are ways to capture to your machine without a camera, but it requires a deck that is usually more expensive than your camera.

                Kevin,

Are the tapes mini-dv, or the older dv?? Either way I can get it done for you. How many tapes do you have?
