As Michael’s thread so accurately pointed out, the "Green Screen" has been though a rough growing period where some things have gotten out of hand and needed to be addressed. That said, I would like to talk about the flip side of this great community and the effects it has had on my family over the past week and a half.
When my brother Jeff and his wife, Lyn, lost their daughter, Ashley, our entire family was reeling from the pain of the loss. Though this period, one of the true constants has been the prayers and support of the TBH extended family. I have been encouraged and brought to tears by people here, some of whom I have never even met. The kind words and selfless acts of giving have been truly amazing.
My employees call TBH “Deer Book”. I have shown them the threads about Ashley and they cannot comprehend the bond that ties total strangers in trying times like these. I have been a green screener for many years and both understand and know those bonds well.
My friend, Scott, went with mom and I to Ashley’s service. He is a long time bowhunter but has never joined TBH. He was amazed by the number of people who took time out of their busy schedules to support Jeff and Lyn. He told me on the way back to Georgetown, “If this is what TBH is all about, I need to join.”
As we continue to support Jeff and Lyn, during this period that no parent should be forced to endure, I would like to thank each of you for the positive thoughts, wishes and deeds. This is an amazing place and the bonds forged here are a testament to the quality of this site, its management and its members.
God bless you all,
Steve
