why shoot a javelina?

The last three hunts (with a rifle) I have been covered up with javelinas. I just can't decide on a good reason why i should shoot one. I am not going to eat one and there is no way my wife would let me bring a mount into the house. I have had to get out of the blind and run them off. Do most of u guys let them walk? If u do shoot one, what are u doing with them?

That right there is the reason on the place I hunt they actively want us to shoot them. They chase the deer off so the javis have to go.

Ask around and you will find people that will take them and make tamales etc out of them. Give the little flea buses to those people....

Isn't a javelina considered a game animal? If so, don't u have to recover and clean? Could u get a ticket if u just feed to the Yotes?

Yes it is that is why most people are not going to tell you what they actually do with them or post on this thread. But they aren't to bad of eating had an old mexican lady make tamales out of one and it they were awesome.

Fair enough. I had an unfortunate experience with a game warden in dove season several years back so I am paranoid about another very expensive written experience.

Almost everything can be made into decent table fare if you cook it long and slow and use plenty of marinated/spices/sauce. And if you don't like it, it makes a great high protein addition to the dogs diet (just back off on sauce/spice)

if you hunt in an area with them enough youll soon know why people shoot them. i too shoot them.

I have buddies from other states that want to come here and pay to hunt them with traditional archery equipment yet nobody seems to want to deal with it and take their money.
