    Skeeter.....3rd handmade knife

Well here she is. And yes bad pics again (partially the mirror finish, partially the camera, but mostly the loose nut behind the camera ). Sorry, Idint see the finger prints on the bolster on the first pic and I was wearing a red flannel shirt and blue jeans in the last pic! Its all done. Its a pretty wicked looking knife. Just fixing to strop it up. It will shave free standing hair on your arm. You dont even have to "pin" the hair between the blade and your arm. It is scary sharp. It the top one that you picked out back at the shoot. You are the first outside of family to get a knife. Anyhow, I hope its what you were looking for.

    Heres the details:
    3.75" blade, 4" cutting edge
    Thumb hole
Bandsaw blade material (carbon steel but high chromium/vanadium content)
    Bois d' Arc handles
    SS liners
    SS Bolsters
    Razor blade washers
    SS pocket clip

    Does it fit your approval?

I cant wait to see it before you give it away. I like the design. Man you have to get a better camera. But then again how do you capture something that is a mirror finish. I can see your reflection of the plaid shirt and blue jeans in the second picture. Nice I like the look and design. Looks good

How do you temper the steel for the blade?

I still think you have a long lost relation in California who's on your to-do list

Holy cow! Man, that is AWESOME! Very nice work. I could only wish to have those kind of skills.

It'll be a pleasure and an honor to carry that knife.

                            thanks everyone

Bill in San Jose- I will definitely take you up on that blacktail hunt. I just have to schedule it if/when I ever go to california. Thats a tempting offer, I just cant justify the plane ride and out of state license (at least right now ). But I got you on the list if I head that direction. And I dont have to temper that material. I tempered some in a homemade bacon grease and used motor oil quench and it turned out ok, but a thin blade needs to be flexible. I liked it better at the current rockwell hardness. Plus if the "micro serrations" bend back and forth serveral times before breaking off (as opposed to a hard blade) The cutting edge actually lasts longer. A harder blade is more brittle and not always better.

Landrover, no I haven't yet. But I did get a spott hogg seven deadly pins sight and lense. I plan on getting maybe a zebra or custom string. I am still leary of the fact that nothing "forces" the peep in the exact same way everytime. I guess with the band I know it will be in the right spot. I also never shot with a string loop, so that may have been affecting it as well. But in general I am resetting my bow up. My rest is wore out and loose. I wanted to do it before last season but never did.

Fistula, Yeah I would definitely be interested in making a few with a logo on them. I do want to make sure though that whatever logo I put on is ok with the owner of that logo first. What design were you looking for? I have a fewe penciled up and can pm or email a pic of them and see if thats something you were interested or if you'd rather have a fixed blade like a skinning knife, fillet knife, or meat cutter. That would work to. Whatever you want let me know and we will go from there. Thanks Fistula.
