I've used my .17hmr on yotes. Between the eyes or base of the ear drops 'em.

I'm a huge .22mag advocate. I would use it for everything if I could. This one was yesterday leaving the ranch made a big mistake in the old milo field after running the cows. Click image for larger version

17 hmr is the way to go. Killed many of yotes with it out to 100 yards and pigs. My 17 is like my American express, I don't leave home without it!

My 17HMR goes just about everywhere I go. It's killed squirrels, rabbits, foxes, coons, a couple armadillos and a few hogs (all head shots on the hogs). It's a wicked little round.

I shoot pigs right between the ear and the eye at 100 Yds with my 22 mag.

Shot placement. If they are hit any place, it will basically be a kill. Gut shot and they go 200 yards, dance is over. Hit in the back legs or front and if it doesn't immediately take them down, it will be over soon. A .223 has more power but a .22LR will kill a coyote. Just giving up trajectory.
