    Graduation!!! Yay...I think?

I'm graduating from Tarleton State University in May of this year with a Bachelor's of Science in wildlife management and biology minor! I am very excited!!

I have a career lined up with the USDA-Natural Resource and Conservation Services, and have been working there since I was 17, its a great agency. However, something in me still wants to see what else is out there. The problem is I don't even know where to look, I've spent my entire college career knowing that when I graduate I have a job (which is fabulous). So I thought that the best possible place I could start would be TBH. Anyone have any ideas about where I can look for careers in anything wildlife/biology/animal science/anything agriculture??

By no means am I saying I want to leave the NRCS but I'm just curious as to what else is out there.

    Thanks Green Screen!!!

If you have a job in the field, stay with it.

If you're looking for an adventure, maybe something with the Alaska DNR? After visiting Alaska this summer, I could have well been persuaded to head up there when I was single/newly married with no kids.

Hi Michael! Not saying I'm leaving, I just have a couple of profs. after me to continue on to get my masters. Just having some pre-grad nerves and the whole "This has what you've been preparing for your entire life". You can't help but think...is this all there is?

Yea Sippy, I thought consulting would be fun. I just think if I leave the feds I won't want to switch to another Dep.

I have had a few summer interns come thru the office and I will tell you the same thing I told them. What are you looking for?, working for the NRCS time for a family, work just 5 days a week and will be able to have alot of vacation time after a few years. You will not get rich by any means, we have not had a pay raise in 3 years. And probably wont have one anytime soon. Go private and will probably make more money, but will you have the same benefits(family time, vacation and such). Every job has its own problems, its just what do YOU want?. Dont know where you are working but I am open for any questions you have

In this economy a good job with a regular paycheck and benefits is a real plus. Especially a government job. I've seen a lot of people suffer in this economy in the last few years. You can always make a change later. How old are you? I went back to school for a graduate degree when I was 27, and it's worked out pretty well. There's no reason you couldn't go back later or part time. It just takes commitment. What else is out there now that would be a good fit for you? I'll harp on the economy again and say that you need to get employed in this economy. The longer you go unemployed the harder it will be to get a job.

i currently work for the USDA/NRCS as well. What all offices have you worked out of while being an intern. I worked west texas for two year and have been here in Gonzales a little over a year. It is a great agency to work for.

                          Congrats on the upcoming Graduation.

I love busy offices! I worked in Sweetwater, Abilene, and Granbury; I loved west Texas where there was tons of stuff to do and lots of places to go, I'm just scared to death I'm going to be stuck in an office with a light work load and fighting for things to do. I love the agency and the idea behind it, part of me is worried that its getting away from the original purpose of why they are there.
