Whatca gonna do for next season???

The 2012/0213 is behind us. What are you gonna do to get ready for next season?

We keep the corn feeders going all year, filled the protein feeders this weekend, planning on getting the soil tests done soon, then we have to decide what to plant for the spring and summer food plots. Nothing quite like firing up the tractor to scratch a little dirt in order to grow some bone.

Tossing around the idea of soybeans, corn and alfalfa. Any thoughts or ideas?

Of course we have the annual chores of trimming shooting lanes, cutting fire wood, keeping the feeders and trail cams going; plenty of work weekends all in the hopes of putting a tag on a sure enough good buck.

I wouldn't trade a B&C buck for all the memories and good times I've spent in the woods with friends and family.

    Here we go again...Good luck!

I'm going to haul water out there at least once a month. I have my water station set up and hoping that it will keep the deer on my property instead of looking elsewhere for water.

Im going to plant for the first time this year. Out west though I need feeder pens built. Biggest plan so far is Public Colorado elk hunt. Im trying to get my finances in line and ahead of schedule to start putting the rest of my annual salary towards that. Hopefully everything will fall into place.

I'm gonna focus more on elk hunting and a LOT less on whitetails after this joke of a deer season I had.

I've got a lot of work to do on my east Texas lease: food plots, build 3 stands and tear down/move one of them, clean out the barn and make it livable so I can bring my 4 year old next year, add solar panels to the feeders, add 3-4 more trail cams, hang tree stands and get a protein station set up. That's just for starters

Oh yeah, I'm almost finished with all my clothing for several years, I've acquired some quality gear now (UA and Russell APX) and just have a few more items like Merino Wool socks and base layers and I'm done. I'm going to start buying one expensive item every 3-4 months in preparation for my DIY Colorado elk hunt in 2014.

Got two pieces of property I just got permission to duck and deer hunt on, almost 1000 acres total, the landowner on the bigger property has shot 3 bucks in the 160's off it. 300$ and it has a cabin. So ill be setting up duck blinds and tree stands

I have moved my corn and protien feeders from two separate feed pend on opposite sides of the ranch to one pen in the middle of the ranch. I will also be moving a treestand to a new location where I saw a lot of activity.

Selling all my stuff, which is mostly done now, and getting off the lease. If I hunt next year it'll be for free at my family's place in SC. And, it'll be with my recurve and not a compound, or I'll hunt with a gun.

                              Where do I start!
                              1) Build 2 new family size blinds/towers
                              2) Put 4 new feeders out
                              3) Set up water system
                              4) Scout for new spots for bowstands

We only have 4 people on 2200 acres. The stands, except for mine, have been in same location for 8 years. It seems like the deer have figured out when and where its safe to roam. I want to throw a few jokers in the deck by having places to sit, mainly depending on weather and wind, where they used to call "safe"!
