Feed Trough Question ?

Anyone use them instead of timed feeder ? Any size or how to build suggestions ? Worry about corn getting wet and souring ?

I'm going to get a plastic barrel, cut it in half, put 4"x4" under each end for support, and drill some holes in the bottom for drainage.
Using it for protein tho

No top ? What are you putting in it ?

Cotton seed, alfalfa hay. Mule feed no top just need to drill some holes in the bottom so it doesn't hold water.

Wonder if it should'nt be taller to keep hogs out

Not hog proof. But if you've got a good sized feed pen that is hog proof youll be ok.

The best part is that I made it, also was very inexpensive to built so if it doesn't work out your not out a bunch of $$$$. Make one throw what ever kind of feed you want to put in it and put a camera on it to see what's eating on it.
