I've been on the hunt for a job for 7 months now, applying with different police departments. Last October, I tested 4th out of 140 for Grand Prairie, passed the oral board, and found out in December that I was denied because of my wife's medical conditions. I was heartbroken, angry, and depressed. Why would God let them lead me on like that, only to shut me down?
I think I finally have the answer. God knew police work wasn't where I belong. I wanted to do it because I felt I didn't have the qualifications/certificates/degrees to do anything else and maintain my standard of living. That's one area I've messed up in the military...never went to college, never logged my hours toward an A&P...too late now.
So I built a resume and put it online at every aviation place around...Lockheed, Bell, and others. Then I decided to try some energy companies too. 2 days later, I got a phone interview, a week after I got an in person interview, and today I got my Voluntary Early Release Program paperwork signed by the CO so I can begin working in February (and still get paid by the military for 3 more months...pays to build your vacation days).
I got hired on with MidCon Compression as a gas compressor mechanic. Just working out salary at this point. It's a job with great pay and benefits, and something I know I will truly enjoy. Sometimes, you gotta have a little less faith in yourself, and put it in God's hands. Sometimes he lets you fall right on your face, but he'll always pick you right back up if you let him.
