i have had one in my life and it wasn't accurate at all! SAPD gave it to me and I failed-I was a witness to a crime but for some reason they doubted my story and gave me the test. The criminal got off free of burglary charges. BS

I think they are way for departments to "get rid of" applicants they dont really want. I didnt pass mine for the local Sheriffs Dept, instead it came back as "Inconclusive" Im not sure what that meant, but they still hired me. Polys are NOT 100% accurate so I dont even know why they use them anymore!! Good luck in your hunt amigo!!

they flew in the FBI top poly man to test me once upon a time after Kim was taken from us. It was quite an ordeal. I believe I passed 8 out of 10 questions...IMO...with this man...he will know rather quickly whats up with you..but...this guy was good...I cant imagine suffering thru one with someone who is incompetent. I feel your pain

I've taken several over past 30 years and had many police applicants take them. They have their use but do I trust them or belive in them? NO!!!
The problem I found was that if your mind wanders while the test is going on, it may show inconclusive. This happened to me once. I was rocking right along and then one question was asked and I answered and then thought of something else pertaining to the question. It was not a big deal and nothing right or wrong, but after test I was asked about it several times and several different ways. After explaining my thought process and a recheck I was good to go. It also depends on how good the interviewer does his job.
One question I hated all the time was, "Have you ever done anything that you could have been arrested for and lost your badge?" Heck back in the 80s I liked going out but I would only drink a couple of beers over a 6 hour period. How are you suppose to answer because I was probably not over the limit for BAC but .....

I was mad. I contacted my investigator and he said " try next year". I said why. I'm telling the truth now and I will give the same answer next year.
I hate being called a liar. I decided to go back to college and pick a different field to go into. I wasn't going to wait another year
Look into applying with the DPS.

i failed mine but was still hired by the pd , put in 30 years,, the capt over training called me in after the poly, simply asked if i lied, i told him i did not , i was hired right there..
only other one i took was when we had a bad apple in the dept who stole a whole lot of cocaine from the property office,,, every single employee civilian and sworn was graphed by the fbi... myself and only one other officer were only run once,, he told me to get out i was wasting his time because it was clear i didnt now anything about it,which i didn't,,, some of the guys were run 7 and 8 times!!
its got its uses but is not dependable at all,, neither are some of the guys who run them.... the guys who were run multiple times were pretty much split on results, some showed lies some showed truth

That was a question I got askedOriginally posted by Loneaggie View PostMy personal favorites asked by Fort Worth...
"Would you feel more comfortable as a woman?"
"Have you been abducted by aliens?"
The questions would ramble on pretty normal for 10 or 12 then they would sneak in a "Sometimes I hear voices inside my head" or "I think I would enjoy wearing womens clothing"
The other questions were mostly pretty boring like
"I think I would enjoy the work of a park ranger"
"I enjoy helping others"
Then there were the gotcha questions, the ones you really had to think about, like:
"I think you should talk to children about sex" Uuuhhh.... are these my children? Am I teaching them about not allowing strangers to touch them? How old are these children? Teenagers or toddlers? It this giving some sort of educational class to a group? Or is it... Hey little girl, come over here....
That test was nerve wracking!
