I've got a 2012 dodge diesel 2500 4x4 been getting around 17.8 on highway driving 65 and I got a question? I know it voids warranty but everyone and there brother has told me that if u get a smarty jr or a H&S programmer I want to keep mine on 40hp at all times with just a 4 inch delete to a 5 inch tip how much better mileage would I get and what's the chances of something going wrong sooner than later?

If your getting 17.8 without it I'd leave it alone unless you plan on keeping the truck for a while. Doing the deletes will help the motor last longer. I did mine with h&s xrt pro and 5" straight pipe. I've got a 2011 3500 srw lifted on 35's that avgs around 16 in town and 18 to 19 on the highway. I would stay away from smarty products. They have had a lot of issues with the 10-12 year models and they don't support their products anymore. If your gonna do h&s I would do it quickly as they have stopped making the dpf delete tuners.

Back in my younger years I was all about having a souped up diesel truck (still have a second gen dodge with some goodies) but now I am just about totally against it. the new trucks have gobs of power stock and dont need anything for power. As far as fuel mileage, sure you can gain a good bit sometimes (5mpg give or take) but to me its not worth alll the hassles and issues it can cause. I have a buddy right now getting new headgasket and some other stuff due to his delete kit and stuff at 100K miles. Just leave it alone and be happy you have such a nice truck. JMHO

I would go with a smarty cause you can get custom tunes now with smarty. Im pretty sure EFI Live doesn't support the new cummins. Give adrenaline truck performance a call. Rob is one of the best tuners in the country. They will hook you up with everything you need and his tunes aren't hard on the truck like some of the box tuners can be.
