Concealed carry on another TX school grounds

Levelland ISD up here in the panhandle is considering CHL holders to carry on their campuses and in the classrooms. Only a consideration, but at least it is an option being looked at.

Levelland ISD is considering their employees with concealed handgun licenses to carry on campus to keep their classrooms safe.

Awsome!! Hope is spreads like wildfire. I do want some addition training other than the standard chl. I think that would help its acceptance.

Not a fan. Im not thinking of that 1-in-1,000,000 chance when there might be a need to defend the students. Im thinking of all the bad things that can possibly happen by having teachers/administrators have a gun in their possession around a bunch of kids. Too many opportunities for theft, accidents, etc... Lets leave this to properly trained professionals and let our teachers teach school. I have taught for 13 years and spent the last 12 years as a principal. I have yet to hear from any teacher or administrator who thinks this is a good idea. I know it is not something I will even consider.

I really don't have a problem with it as long as it is Concealed. Some more training would be a good thing!

That's great, cause you dang sure can't bet on the Hockley county sherriff's dept to uphold the law.

Great idea, I don't understand why people say "why would I want someone who is taking care of my child to possess a weapon?" Ever think that 1 time may be your daughter or son in that scenario. Crazies will be crazies with or without being able to conceal carry.

Open up the "Gun Free Zones" and then lets see how many loonies go to a school or theater. Them freakazoids seem to migrate to where they know they can do the most damage before offing themselves. Freakin cowards don't want to go down in a blaze of glory. Just want to hurt and scare innocents...

They can't steal what they don't know about. Why would the teacher flaunt that they are carrying? I would love to have the teachers armed and the professors at colleges. But I would stipulate that it has to be carried on their person not in a purse or in a drawer. Hard to steal something out of a pocket. Besides what difference does it make when that teacher is carrying out side of school yet they walk in the building and suddenly they are a different person and going to have an accidental shooting? I don't see that happening.

I can see your point in a way, BUT if it is concealed properly and handled discreetly then the kids should have no idea who is carrying?

There should be ZERO chance for theft or accidents if the gun is concealed like it states in the law. If anyone knows that the teacher/administrator is carrying and/or the gun is visible, then a law has been broken. I do believe that additional training should be given for carrying by a teacher or adminstrator in classes. WCB is 100% correct with the fact that if the "gun free zones" become zones where someone may be carrying, they are going to look for somewhere else for their carnage. Look at most mass murders and the places that they happen; mostly in GUN FREE ZONES. It is a good idea to have trained professionals on campus, but who is going to pay for this? Schools are not getting enough money as it is right now and teachers are not paid enough period!

Yes it is, as is lubbock. And don't even attempt to call it west. This map is pretty close to showing where the lines are.
