            There is a good use for this type of round/shooting, its saved for the last round in a bear attack. The split barrel allows one to fend/hold off the bear until it expires.....

            Accidents happen, years ago one of the lease members had a similar experience. He had a habit of leaving a rifle in his deer stand overnight. Overnight turned into a week and during that time dirt-dobbers filled the barrel with dirt.

            Always check to see if the barrel is clear!

                  They could have used that on Mythbusters when they were trying to get the same effect from a 12 gauge Rem 870. The best they could do was peel back the rib.

                              I have held one that looked about like that. There was mud in the barrel when it was fired.

                              Cut the barrel back, recrown and have a shorty carbine.

                                Bet the shooter has a ring over his eye. Kick increases about 3 fold when this happens.
