    Snake boots or chaps???

I hear that there are snakes on our new lease. I have a friend that bought snake boots and does not like them. He says they are hot and uncomfortable. What do you wear and why???

Chaps are hot and uncomfortable too. And bulkier. I'd pick snake boots.

I have a pair of Justins. They were broke in after a full day of chasing quail. They are all I wear at the lease now.

I wear a pair of Cabela's brand snake boots that are really comfortable. I used to wear snake chaps but talk about being hot. They also do not give you protection on your foot area.

Redhead zip ups. They are the most comfortable boots I've worn...of any kind. I've had some uncomfortable snake boots in the past, but these are easy on, easy off, and comfortable on. I've worn chaps and gaiters and the chaps will make you SWEAT. They are great brush busters, but for general use, not for me. I haven't had them on in YEARS. Gaiters aren't as bad, but not nearly as comfortable as my boots.

I own a pair of snake proof boots and don't wear them. I wear a pair of leather Ariat work boots . Maybe its the fact that I have lived in the country my whole life or it was just beat into me, but anytime I am out I watch for snakes. And I have killed snakes on my front porch under my garage. I ain't putting on a pair of snake boots to take out the trash. Most people get bit by rattlesnakes by messing with them or handling them. No boots can compensate for stupidity.

I will add the only time I wear them is if I am clearing brush with a chainsaw. I want to hear the little buggers.

I just bought a pair of cabelas zip ups uninsluted. I love them. After one day on the lease they were good and broke in. They are gortex and scentlok. Also when you are sitting around camp or in the truck where you dont worry about snakes you can unzip them and let your feet breath.

Chippewa's, I like mine. They are comfortable for snake boots. I found I had to tuck in pants or wear tall socks.Otherwise they did rub on top of calf.

I have had them all Chippewas,Justin ,redhead, cabelas, and rockies. I run dogs for the state and I wear them ever day at work riding horseback and on foot behind bloodhounds. When you get them broke in they are just like any orther shoe or boot. Hot well I guess I'm used to it.

Danner snake boots from Cabelas, only took one day to break in. Well worth the money.

The Chippewa's are awesome. I have the waterproof model...they were very easy to break in. Can't imagine wearing anything else.

Go over to the Justin boot outlet in Ft Worth and you can pick up the Justin snakeboots for around $110 and the regular Chippewa's for $99.

I've only had one rattler rattle me up in my life.

I've slept on the ground in Texas and various other states and countries for a total of 3 years of my life.

Only one time did I ever have a run in with a rattler. Once.

                            That's one too many.

I unfortunately am gifted with 20 in calves and it's almost impossible to find snake boots that fit unless they're size 20 like Yao Ming would wear.

                            I hate chaps.

Those green "one size fits all" plastic wrapping things leave the back half of my calf exposed.

I ended up getting some snake boots and leave the tops undone.

I'll probably never see a snake again.

                              LMAO!

Snakes shiver my skin! I got a pair of lace up snake boots, but lacin 11" of boot is a pain in th' arse! Bought a pair of snake chaps, but as mentioned above, Hot & No Feet Protection. Wanted to get them Justin snake boots from Classifieds, but money tied up elsewhere right now. Slip ons seem to me to be the way to go IMO.
