    Varment Hunting Questions

I have an ecaller that i got for my birthday. With all the rain this year we have not really had a chance to use it. We only had one set to try it out and found out the range of the caller was only about 40 yards so we may be upgrading in the future. What is the range you are getting with the Foxpro?

Some of you have posted up some nice harvests of 5 to 20 bobs and yotes during your varment hunts. Impressive to say the least. Are you tanning the hides? I would think the bobs would make a nice rug or mount.

When I was in Fredricksburg a few years ago I saw they used the yotes head pieces to make stool covers. The stool covers came from about 8 yotes with the noses making up the center and radiating out to edges. Like a pizza pie cut into 8 slices and a big peperoni in the center. Pretty cool. I always wanted a set of them if I ever get a Man Cave.

We hunt in East Texas so any posts from experienced hunters hunting clear cuts or pine plantations would be helpful. Seems like shot gun hunting may be more in order. Anyone set up in hang-ons to get up off the ground while using decoys for really close action?

I have a Western Rivers Apache that I can hear from 300yds. I also use several mouth calls. I hunt from my tree stands, elevated deer stands and the ground. where ever the mood takes me. hides aint worth much, I do have a bob rug and a full body, also a yote rug. I mostly shoot em to save fawns and have fun. predators are fun and smart.

For the range of the caller, I meant the transmitting distance that your handheld device can be used to change the calls on the caller on the ground. The one I am using only has a transmitting distance of approx. 40 yards.

My Foxpro Fury is supposed to work at 100 yards but I wouldn't set my call out that far anyway. I usually set mine out at 35-40yds. I've had it out 50yds and it worked fine too.

Fur buyer that came through Hondo recently was paying up to $100 for a bobcat hide. That's what I was told, anyway. My calling season kicks off tomorrow so we'll see in a couple months.

I have changed the volume and calls on my Foxpro firestorm out to 100 yards.I can't find the manual on mine but I think it is suppose to work out to 200 yards.I very seldom set mine out past 50 yards.

I have a foxpro and I can get all the distance I could want while hunting woods. You have to be able to see your caller cause the dogs have been known to almost stick their nose in the call. I bought a western rivers and it was malfunctioning the first time I used it, they have terrible reviews, my pick is foxpro been using it for a year now and no complaints.

I use 3.5 inch dead coyote rounds with a coyote choke. I haven't patterned it but it is supposed to be good to 70 yards

I've used my foxpro also out to around 100yds. Would put it on the feeders and sit in the high rack down the road. Didn't have any problems, just gotta make sure the remote antenna is pointed up with the call antenna up. Won't work if they are not pointing semi parallel.
