Anyone know why they don't offer the diesel jeeps in the states?

Don't know. Saw a Volkswagen 4dr diesel pickup going down I-45. Thought it might be something for the ex. I looked online and it got 54 mpg, and it isn't available in the US

EPA and because it gets terrific mileage! They're pushing the green effort with BS hybrid technology...

The diesel Wrangler Unlimited gets around 23-31 mpg versus 16-20 for the gas version here in the states.

I drive to Houston yesterday and rolled over 10000 miles in my 12' 4 door. When I first got it, it was getting about 16.5 mpg and now about 18 average and 19 on the hwy. I wish they would make a programmer for the 12'. I am very happy with it, it has plenty of power for a 3.6 leter. I can burn the tires on dry pavement.

These are all either Mopar/AEV or Brute conversion kits currently.

Jeep has removed the Gladiator from its website. They've been trying to get it marketable since '05.

A converted Wrangler currently cost anywhere from $50,000 to $85,000.

And this is why Jeep will never put a pickup variant into production! I sure would like to have one, but there's no way they could offer a J-10 / Scrambler equivalent at a cost that would be competitive with the Tacoma or other mid-size trucks currently on the market. It's a neat idea and I love seeing the concepts they keep producing for SEMA, but I'm not going to get my hopes up!
