I have lived in this area for nearly my whole life 35+ years (moved in elementary school) and would not eat at Sammy's if they gave away the food. Castroville is really limited on their choices of restraunts. I agree that if you run up the road a few minutes to Herman Sons and get the Mexican Chicken Fried steak you cannot go wrong. Cora's is also an excellent choice going towards Rio Medina, but they have a limited menu. I ussually go their in the evening for a few cold drinks and their Nacho's, which are really good. They have kinda funny hours and might not be open for lunch. This is all just my opinion and we all have different taste, I just know what I know from growing up there.

I understand what you are saying. There are a few places I would never recommend to anyone because I know too much about them, but that doesnt stop lots of people from having a good experience there. I havent been to Cora's in forever, but I do remember that they were known for the nachos.

Margie's is where I will pick up breakfast tacos. I will call them in when I leave for work and then pick them up on the way through town. Tink a Tako is ok for lunch or dinner, but once again I will drive to Hondo to Aztecas if I have the choice.

Have you tried the Mexican Chicken Fried Steak? You need to try it if you have not. Good stuff. I do agree that they make a good pepper steak. The owner Bryce is a good guy and runs the restraunt well.

Man, Clay I just remembered that Cora's is only open in the evenings. They're on to this whole live music deal and don't open till like 4 or 5. I could be wrong but I think thats what their schedule is now.
