Tri tip is my favorite cut. I marinate them in soy sauce, beer, and fresh garlic for 24 hrs before cooking. Good stuff.

I never heard of it either until a guy at work was talking about it. I think its part of the sirloin maybe??? I seasoned mine like a steak and cooked it for about 45 minutes over charcoal until medium cooked. Let it rest for 5-7 minutes after i pulled it from the pit, the( very important) sliced it across the grain into brisket like slices. The whole cut itself looks like a minature brisket

Spent part of a summer at Gary Leffew's place in Nipomo, California 20 years ago. That was the first and only place I ever saw tri-tip. Ate it every day. They cooked it like in post 7. Good stuff
